Having extensive knowledge in the field of astrophysics and other kinds of space shit I deduced that this must be the work of solar flares. Today, Wednesday I received this text from Computer Death Sister:

So, what does this mean exactly? Both of the solar flares were X-Class (the highest, most powerful classification of solar flares). Over the next 24 hours or so, planes will need to be rerouted to prevent passengers from radiation exposure, Some far north power grids can experience rolling blackouts, Radio and Satellite communication can be temporarily interrupted. A major concern of larger solar flares is the potential for devastating geomagnetic storms to take place on earth. I don't believe we have to be worried about melting on the surface of our planet quite yet. But, if these geomagnetic storms are strong enough, they can just wipe out our whole power grid, global blackout, no communication, pure pandemonium. Sleep well children, sleep well.
The only consolation to this solar event is Aurora Borialis or Northern Lights should be visible in our northern global neighborhoods. Probably not in Chicago tho... plus it's kinda of cloudy, smells of chocolate... Warm tho!
